Shrewsbury was founded in 1552 and is well-known as a traditional independent school. It is situated close to the lively market town of Shrewsbury in the north-west of England.

Impressive campus with both traditional and modern buildings and impressive sports facilities.

Dates: 2-4 weeks. 1-29 July 2026

3 academies to choose from:

English Academy:

  • 20 hours’ English tuition per week including 5 hours’ Active English sessions

Coding & Tech Academy:

  • 15 hours’ English tuition per week + 12 hours’ coding & tech.
  • Learn the fundamentals of code, robotics and game design or take your skills to the next level.

Sports Academy:

  • 15 hours’ English tuition per week + 12 hours’ sports coaching.
  • Choose 1 sport each week: adventure sports, golf, horse-riding, tennis.

Teaching programme:

  • 15-20 hours’ tuition per week including English Skills, English Workshops and end-of-week presentation.
  • Optional exam: Trinity Graded Exam in Spoken English (at extra cost)

Activity Programme

  • Choice of activities including sports, team challenges, arts & crafts, and drama games
  • Evenings: team challenges, British games, discos and relaxed nights in house
  • Special events: Ceilidh (traditional dancing), pool party
  • Excursions: 2 per week e.g. Chester, Warwick Castle, Severn Valley Railway, Blists Hill Victorian Town

Accommodation and supervision

  • Staff/student ratio at least 1:4
  • Accommodation in comfortable boarding houses with 1-4-bedded rooms and shared bathrooms
  • 3 meals a day
  • ‘English Student Hosts’ of your age take part in the courses so you make friends with English speakers of your own age
  • Free airport transfers from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester
