Artificial intelligence is already reshaping how students search for and experience English language learning – but not necessarily in the way many fear.
At Living Learning English, we’re seeing AI used to support human-led teaching rather than replace it.
Our recent blog looks at developments such as the British Council’s new AiBC tool, which uses AI to extend speaking practice beyond the classroom while keeping teachers at the centre. This ‘human-first’ approach mirrors our own experience: AI can give learners more opportunities to practise, but real progress still comes from meaningful interaction with expert teachers.
We’ve also started to see AI changing how students find us. In 2025, visits to our website from ChatGPT increased dramatically, showing that learners are now asking AI assistants for personalised recommendations about where to study. One of our students, Benedetta, chose Living Learning English after ChatGPT suggested our homestay courses matched her specific goals. Her story underlines the potential of AI to connect the right students with the right schools – while the quality of the human experience remains the deciding factor.
